OPENING FOR CONSULTANCY: BUSINESS PRACTICES
DURATION: 6 MONTHS
The Business Practices (BP) Team, within the Programme Division of UNFPA, is seeking a consultant to support their work on development and deployment of an organizational programme management system through the end of 2011. The BP Team is currently undertaking two significant projects; the introduction of a Business Process Management Methodology and the development and deployment of a programme management system. The consultant’s work would focus on the programme management system project, providing significant assistance in managing the project in all aspects; including, but not limited to the following:
• Managing the learning and training aspects of the system implementation in conjunction with Learning Branch. This includes becoming a super-user/expert in the application and designing and developing all training materials. Training materials include user guides, job aides, video tutorials, webinars, and training workshop materials. • Acting as the focal point for all system support issues (in conjunction with MIS branch) during the pilot testing and implementation phase. Coordinating the remote pilot testing in select COs(yet to be decided from HQ). • Acting as assistant project manager for this project, assisting the project manager (Business Practices Specialist) in day-to-day aspects of the project. This includes both substantive input to the implementation strategy as well as all administrative functions such as coordinating project documentation and meetings. • Coordinating and synthesizing input from all stakeholders regarding this project. The candidate may expect to be involved in other aspects of Business Practices Team work on ad-hoc basis, as determined by the Business Practices Specialist. This could include limited support to the BPM projects aspects of the Team’s work or other work that comes up in the second half of 2011.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: • Advanced University degree in business, IT, or other relevant area • Project management experience • Experience in UN/UNFPA programming considered a strong asset • Familiarity working with IT systems development • Familiarity developing training materials • Strong documentation and writing skills • English fluency; working knowledge of French and/or Spanish highly desirable HOW TO APPLY:
